Eminem Overview

How Much Is Eminem Worth?

Eminem (aka Slim Shady) – a multi-platinum selling American rapper – is one of the richestrappers in the world.

Having caught his big break in the late ’90s, Eminem now earns $20 million a year without having to lift a finger … thanks to royalties, endorsements, and of course his loyal fans.

However

… despite being 47 years old, Eminem’s lifestyle is far from slowing down – he still continues to tour and create music.

When touring his annual income can hike to $30-50 million – pretty good for doing something he loves!

What’s the saying?

“Find a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life”.

So true.

With this in mind, Eminem’s net worth totals a pretty $230 million – built throughout his career.

Young Eminem

He was born Marshall Bruce Mathers III in St Joseph, Missouri – to parents Marshall Sr. and Debrah Rae Wilson.

Creativity ran in Eminem’s blood with his parents performing together in the band “Daddy Warbucks”.

However

…at an early age, Eminem’s parents split up – so he spent his childhood moving around Missouri with his single mum.

Eminem had an unstable home growing up – he never spent more than a year in one place. This made it difficult at school…he was branded a loner and frequently bullied.

He originally had dreams to become a comic book artist but all that changed one day when he heard the rap song “Reckless” – a gift from his brother Ronnie.

At the age of 14, he adopted the rap persona “M&M” – nicknamed after his initials (not the chocolate!).

By 17 he dropped out of high school – working odd jobs whilst he took part in freestyle rap competitions and wrote lyrics.

Business Ventures, Endorsements & Products

He gained respect locally in Detroit, joining the group “Bassmint Production” – later renamed “Soul Intent”.

He began recording music whilst working for minimum wage as a cook and dishwasher – he had a real commitment to music even back then.

In 1996 he released his debut album “Infinite” with record company “Web Entertainment” – it was at this time he created his alter ego “Slim Shady”.

He was a controversial character…

…who rapped about drugs, sex, violence, rape and murder.

However… this only increased Eminem’s following – it became clear this was what people were interested in.

In 1997 he released “The Slim Shady EP” – reaching number 2 on the Billboard 200.

In 1998 Eminem was evicted from his home… so he traveled to LA to compete in the rap Olympics – he just never gave up.

He was placed 2nd in the competition but… as a massive stroke of luck he was discovered by Dr.Dre – who at the time was looking to sign fresh talent for his newly launched record company.

Great timing…

After signing for Dres Aftermath Entertainment, he re-recorded Slim Shady – which went on to become a certified 4 x platinum in the US alone!

Let me repeat that for you…

…a certified 4x platinum and it later went on to win a Grammy for the best rap album.

Incredible achievement!

He went on to release some great albums: – (if you’d like to buy them check out the Amazon links below!).

2000 “The Marshall Mathers LP” – the fastest-selling hip-hop album in history – eventually sold more than 21 million albums.

2002 “The Eminem Show” – selling 27 million albums.

Earlier in 1999, he founded Shady records … where he signed his first act D12.

What goes around comes around, eh?

In 2002 Eminem was introduced to underground rapper 50 Cent whilst filming “8 Mile” …

…Cent became the first solo artist signed by Shady Records.

You can read his Net Worth here.

In 2003 he had sold 50 million records and performed 88 solo concerts as part of his Anger Management Tour.

In his music career, he’s achieved record sales, toured, and sold merchandise clothing…

He was rewarded for his success not only with huge wealth but also:

  • 21 Grammys
  • 8 American Music Awards
  • 17 Billboard Awards
  • 100 Million Record Sales
  • 1 Academy Award

…That’s quite the list!

As well as taking the music industry by storm…

Eminem dipped his toes in the acting world – starring in the movie ‘8 Mile’.

Over the years he has guest-starred in many movies and shows such as ‘The Walsh’, ‘The Interview’, and ‘Crank Yankers’.

In 2000-2003 he released a web cartoon, “The Slim Shady Show” – following the life of his alter ego.

In 2000 Eminem published his first book – “Angry Blonde” – basically a commentary on his songs.

In 2008 he published his autobiography – “The Way I Am” – focussing on his struggle with poverty, drugs, fame, heartbreak, and depression.

Later that year his Mum published “My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem” – featuring his rise (and struggles) to fame.

As well as his own business ventures he has been involved in a number of endorsements for… Beats by Dre, Brisk, Carhartt, Casio, and Chrysler.

Some pretty big brands.

He has had some great sneaker collaborations with Nike, here are some of my favorites:

  • 2003 Nike Artist Series ‘Shady Burst’
  • 2004 Air Force 1 Low ‘Shady Records’
  • 2005 Air Jordon 4 Retro ‘Encore’

  • 2015 Air Jordan 4 ‘Eminem’

As well as his investment in the form of sweat equity in his career…

…he made investments in several external companies along the way.

In 2015 he invested in Genius – the world’s biggest encyclopedia of music and in 2016 he invested in StockX – a sneaker company…both are companies that tie in with his interests of course.

Eminem Controversies & Litigation

Although one of the most successful and richest rappers in the world, he’s been involved in a number of controversies…

In 1999 his mother filed a $10 million lawsuit…

…claiming he was slandering her on The Slim Shady LP – she received $1,600 for the damages.

Twice in 2000, he was arrested for weapon possession and assault…one incident occurred after seeing John Guerra kiss his wife.

He later released “Kim” – a soundtrack expressing his anger and hatred towards her. After watching Eminem’s performance on stage using a voodoo doll … Kim attempted suicide.

In 2002 Jacques Loussier filed a $10 millionlawsuit against Slim Shady and Dr. Dre, claiming the “Kill You” beat was taken from his “Pulsion”.

It was later settled out of court.

In 2015 he was sued by Hotstylz for $8 millionfor using samples from their mixtape without permission.

In 2003 and later in 2018-19 he was investigated by the US Secret Service for using threatening lyrics towards both Bush and Trump…

…leading to lyric changes in “We As Americans” prior to release.

He also battled an addiction to prescription drugs – he was admitted to rehab in 2005 – but he’s been sober since 2008 – way to go!

How Eminem Spends His Money

As one of the richest rappers in the world, he makes his money through endorsements, album sales, and copyrights.

But…

…you might be wondering how he spends his money?

Here goes.

He has a number of rather expensive hobbies and previous purchases –  these include:

  • $450,000 rare Spiderman comic
  • $16,000 retro arcade machines
  • Tuition fees for his 3 daughters
  • $7,000 Rolex Datejust
  • $120,000 Perpetual Calendar Skeleton Timepiece
  • $100,000 diamond-encrusted AA pendant
  • $450,000 Crucifix necklace

Expensive taste in jewelry, right?

You can be certain he lives in style.

Eminiem owns a whopping 8,900 ft2 mansion in Clinton Township, Michigan which he uses as his primary home.

He bought the mansion for $1,483,500.

He also had a second Michigan mansion in Rochester Hills. He owned it for 14 years, recently selling it for $2 million.

The massive 17,000ft2 mansion had 6 suite bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, a tennis court, a waterfall pool, spa, and guest house – I’d love to live here!

Think of the pool parties!

He used the secondary mansion for “getaways”.

The American rapper has a massive car collection

In his collection he’s lucky enough to own a:

  • Lamborghini Aventador
  • Ferrari 599 GTO
  • Ferrari 430
  • Porsche 911 GT2 RS

  • Audi R8 Spyder
  • Cadillac Escalade
  • Ferrari 575
  • Porsche Carrera GT

Quite a collection…

…and surprisingly he’s most likely to be seen in his Cadillac Escalade – that’s his favorite…

Although Eminem lives life in the public eye…here’s a few facts you might not already know about the rapper:

As one of the most successful rappers in the world, there’s a lot we can learn from Eminem…

  1. Money doesn’t follow you to the grave – although it also can’t buy happiness, it just makes life easier. Control how you earn – and save – your money.
  2. Cash is easy to burn through… so treat your money as if it’s the last time you’re going to make it.
  3. Money can make people act funny – don’t be fooled by fake friends and don’t use it to fund bad habits.
